Order Execution

Limit order

A limit order is an instruction to buy at or below, or sell at or above, a price you specify; it rests on the exchange's order book until the market reaches that price, so you control the price but not whether or when the order fills.

Why it matters

Limit orders remove slippage on entry and usually pay lower maker fees, which is why signal channels post entry zones rather than "buy now". The cost is uncertainty: a limit placed at the bottom of a zone may never fill, or may fill only partially, and a limit left resting after the setup is no longer valid can fill hours later into a completely different market. For automation the question is always what happens to the stop and target while the entry is still waiting, and when a waiting entry should be cancelled.

How AlgoVesta handles it

AlgoVesta executes entries as market orders by default, because a signal is usually meant to be acted on when it arrives and a resting entry that fills later cannot be protected in the same moment. Where a signal provides an entry zone, the platform checks the live price against the zone at execution time instead of resting a limit: it can require the price to be inside the zone, allow a limited deviation, or ignore the zone, according to your setting. Stop-loss and take-profit levels are placed as resting conditional orders on the venue, which is where limit-style behaviour belongs: they wait until price reaches them and execute without your connection being online. Pending-entry behaviour on MetaTrader 5 follows the same principle, with the position protected as soon as it exists. Settings are on the crypto automation page; see also market order.

Example

A channel posts "BTCUSDT LONG 59,800-60,000, SL 59,200, TP 61,500" while BTC trades at 60,150. With the entry-zone rule set to "inside zone only" the signal is blocked and logged, because a market entry would fill outside the zone. If price later returns to 59,950 the trader can re-send or the channel can re-post; nothing is left resting on the book that could fill during a crash to 58,000 with the stop already far away.
