MetaTrader bridge (MT5)

A MetaTrader bridge is the connection layer that lets an external system, a signal source, a bot or an automation platform, place, modify and close trades inside a MetaTrader 5 terminal without a person clicking; it usually consists of an Expert Advisor in the terminal and a messaging or HTTP layer that carries commands to it and results back.

Why it matters

MetaTrader has no public server-side API, so every form of MT5 automation passes through a terminal, and the bridge's design decides latency, reliability and what happens when things fail. A bridge that lives on the trader's laptop stops when the laptop sleeps; one that returns a success flag before the broker has confirmed the fill lies about protection; one that cannot tell a hedging account from a netting account splits multi-target signals wrongly. The bridge is also where symbol suffixes, lot steps and broker-specific quirks have to be resolved.

How AlgoVesta handles it

AlgoVesta's bridge is an Expert Advisor running on terminals that AlgoVesta operates on its own terminal farm, connected to the backend over a private low-latency channel; nothing is installed on your machine. Commands are prepared server-side after your bot's rules have passed: the broker symbol is resolved including suffixes, the pip size is taken from the actual symbol, lots are rounded to the broker's step and split across targets, and netting accounts are detected so a multi-target signal is not opened as several merging positions. The EA executes, waits for the broker's confirmation, sets stop and target on the position and reports back; a position whose stop cannot be confirmed is closed again by design. Terminal logins, disconnections and broker server resolution are managed and monitored, and the connection state is shown per account. Multiple bots can share one MT5 account, each managing only the positions it opened. The average end-to-end time for a forex order through the bridge is about 1.2 seconds. See Forex on MetaTrader and the Expert Advisor entry. For a step-by-step setup, see the Telegram to MT5 bridge guide.

Example

A prop-firm trader adds an MT5 login for a broker whose gold symbol is XAUUSD.r. A Telegram signal for gold with three targets arrives; the bridge resolves the symbol, takes the pip size for gold, splits 0.30 lots into 0.15 / 0.09 / 0.06, and the EA opens three positions with one stop and three targets. The broker's confirmations return within about a second and the three tickets appear in the dashboard.
